It’s been a while since we featured a Bournemouth client in our Move in of the Month feature, and Ace High Sports, who moved in to Clifton House in July is a business that has captured our interest!

Mike Hawkyard and his team are offering Bournemouth’s latest game studio, uniquely combining the energy and competitive spirit of sport with the strategic depth of card games. Their launch title is an intriguing format, combining Heads-up Poker with the hard-hitting action of American football. It sounds interesting to say the least! Mike tells us that players compete for yards on the playing field by playing simplified hands of Poker. Win hands > gain territory > score Touchdowns. There are 12 teams, each with their own star Quarterback and Special Plays that can change the result of any hand. There is a lot of exciting plans in the pipeline, so it’s well worth following them on Facebook, YouTube or Instagram, especially if you are a gaming enthusiast.
When we asked them what the key factors influencing their decision to move into Clifton House, a professional workspace was top of the list. They are going going through an investment round, so working from a garage was not a realistic option – the clean and tidy office at Clifton House is a big help.
Secondly, the flexible terms are key. Being a startup with ambitions to grow the company, Mike says, “we needed an office that didn’t tie us into a long term contract and also had the potential of allowing us to take more space.”
Finally, we asked Mike what Ace High Sports are most looking forward to about being based in Clifton House.
“The Podium team here is amazing and made moving in really simple. Being in the town centre is very convenient. Everyone we’ve met is really friendly – and they are all potential game testers for a few months time – they just don’t know it yet!
I’m also looking forward to seeing people’s faces here when they go to make a coffee and encounter the defensive line of the Bournemouth Bobcats (the local American Football team) in the corridor doing a photoshoot for Instagram!”

Now that’s something we can’t wait to see!
